Once in a time, I was addicted to anime related to vampire. Dangerous but attractive and sexy, vampire becomes representative of romance and mystery. Today, I am going to introduce some anime related to vampire.

It is the first vampire anime I watched. It is adapted from manga. The big eyes of the heroin is very impressive as well as the two handsome main male characters. It is a complicated romance story with some sexy atmosphere. In addition to heroin and two main male characters, other vampire characters all have different characteristics and their own stories, which makes this anime more interesting and profound.
2. BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS

Directed by Hiroaki Yoshikawa
Music by Toshihiko Sahashi
Studio Group TAC, Studio Live

Episodes 12
It is adapted from a light novel written by Kōhei Azano. A romance and action anime dubbed by many famous voice actors such as Takahiro Sakurai and voice actresses such as Miyuki Sawashiro. I was impressed by the main character’s costume. It is all red but looks cool with a sharp and tall hat. Also, you can find brotherhood in this anime.
3. Shiki

Directed by Tetsurō Amino
Written by Kenji Sugihara
Music by Yasuharu Takanashi
Studio Daume
Original run July 8, 2010 – December 30, 2010
Episodes 22 (2 bonus episodes included on video release) (List of episodes)
This is one of my favorite anime. It is adapted from a horror novel written by Fuyumi Ono. The first half of the story is kind of slow and you need to be patient. But when it enters the next half of the story, many things happen at the same time and the reverse in the ending was quite impressive to me, making me think a lot. The visual style in this anime is kind of unique especially the hairstyle, but I think the hairstyle corresponds to the atmosphere in the story and you will get used to it when you are into the plots.

It is an old but classic anime movie. It is a sad romance story. The character design is so delicate that you can even count their eyelashes. The soundtrack is also awesome. It is directed by a Japanese director but the visual style is kind of American, which may result from the cooperation of Japan and America.

This one is different from other anime mentioned above. It is adapted from an otome video game which targets female players. This romance story involves historical characters and vampires. The heroin is one of my favorite heroin among anime adapted from otome video games because she is not weak but mentally strong. All the male characters are handsome but with various personalities. Hence, you can find the one you like most. Personally speaking, the first two seasons are better.
6. BLOOD-C

Directed by Tsutomu Mizushima
Written by Nanase Ohkawa
Junichi Fujisaku
Music by Naoki Satō
Studio Production I.G
Original run July 8, 2011 – September 30, 2011
Episodes 12 (List of episodes)
This anime has delicate character design by Clamp which is one of the most famous manga artist team in Japan, but unfortunately the story is not my type. Many scenes are bloody and the soundtrack is great. It is kind of confusing in the beginning, but you will see the truth later. Overall, it is an action anime with some reversed plots which might attracts you.
7. Valvrave the Liberator

Directed by Kō Matsuo
Written by Ichirō ?kouchi
Music by Akira Senju
Studio Sunrise
Original run April 12, 2013 – December 26, 2013
Episodes 24 (List of episodes)
The combination of robot and vampire in this anime is very intriguing. It is an original production of SUNRISE famous for robot anime, the characters are designed by Katsura Hoshino who is the author of D, Gray-Man, and the story is written by Ichirō ?kouchi who is also the screenwriter of Gode Gease. You can never guess what is going to happen in next episode when watching this anime. Some people criticized for its unexpected plots but I like it.
8. Vassalord

Directed by Kazuto Nakazawa
Music by Yukio Nagasaki
Studio Production I.G
Released March 15, 2013
Runtime 28 minutes
Episodes 1
It is an action yaoi anime. One is vampire, another is a machine man raised by the vampire. There is only one episode, but it implies a lot of evidences behind which makes me want to know the whole story. I am looking forward to watching a TV series of this anime. But manga will be good choice for the moment.
9. Blood Lad

Directed by Shigeyuki Miya
Written by Takeshi Konuta
Music by Yuki Hayashi
Studio Brain's Base
Original run July 7, 2013 – September 8, 2013
Episodes 10 + OVA (List of episodes)
Strictly speaking, it is a shounen anime with a vampire hero. I think that it is rare to see a vampire in a shounen anime. The heroin is cute and always seems innocent. The story happens in a world where space is divided into two parallel parts. One is demon world, another is human world. It is an interesting story but is too short.
10. Trinity Blood

Directed by Tomohiro Hirata
Written by Atsuhiro Tomioka
Tomohiro Hirata
Music by Takahito Eguchi
Studio Gonzo
Original run April 28, 2005 – October 6, 2005
Episodes 24 (List of episodes)
I strongly recommend this anime. It is adapted from a light novel series written by Sunao Yoshida who has passed away. The story has relation with religions and politics which makes it profound. The visual style in this anime is very beautiful. The entanglement between the vampire twins is very impressive, which reminds me of Trigun.
11. Diabolik Lovers

1st Season
Directed by Shinobu Tagashira
Written by Seiko Nagatsu
Music by Yuki Hayashi
Studio Zexcs
Original run September 16, 2013 – December 9, 2013
Episodes 12 + 1 OVA (List of episodes)
2nd Season
Directed by Risako Yoshida
Written by Hiroko Kusanagi
Music by Yuki Hayashi with Sachi
Studio Zexcs
Original run September 23, 2015 – December 9, 2015
Episodes 12 (List of episodes)
It is another anime adapted from an otome video game. In my opinion, this one has a weaker story than Hakuouki. All the male characters are vampires and hold some affection with the heroin. The heroin is not annoying but she is not good at refusing others. In this anime, you will be impressed by the colorful hairs of each character.
12. STRIKE THE BLOOD

Directed by Takao Sano
Hideyo Yamamoto
Written by Hiroyuki Yoshino
Music by Assumed Sounds
Studio Silver Link, Connect
Original run October 4, 2013 – March 28, 2014
Episodes 24 (List of episodes)
When you first see the main male character, you won’t believe he is a vampire. I think most people will watch this anime for the cute heroin wearing sailor suits. The action is good but the plots are kind of boring to me. After the TV anime series, three series of OVA were released. If you are interested in this anime adapted from a light novel after watching the TV series, you can also watch its OVA series.
13. Hellsing

Directed by Umanosuke Iida
Written by Chiaki J. Konaka
Music by Yasushi Ishii
Studio Gonzo
Original run October 10, 2001 – January 16, 2002
Episodes 13 (List of episodes)
This is a classic dark anime. The main male character has half vampire blood and half human blood with red hat and coat which is similar to the brother in the anime Black Blood Brothers. But this character looks cooler with guns and sunglasses. The heroin is kind of annoying because she thinks too much. The action scenes are very impressive.
14. Devils' Line

Directed by Yoshinobu Tokumoto
Written by
Kenji Konuta
Ayumu Hisao
Music by Kana Shibue
Studio Platinum Vision
Original run April 7, 2018 – June 23, 2018
Episodes 12
This is an action romance. I really like the voice actor of the main male character. He has a black naevus beside mouth which makes him looks different from other male characters I saw in other anime. The guy with white hair and multi-color eyes is mysterious and his identity implies a secret organization which is hardly explained in this anime. I wish there could be another season that discloses the story of the secret organization.

Different from others mentioned above, this anime is produced by American only though it is adapted from a Japanese video game. The storyline is not complicated with revenge and salvage as themes. Also, it reflects some conflicts between science and religion. Second season is better and longer than the first season. When a strong vampire falls in love with a human female, do not hurt his lover otherwise he will destroy the world as a revenge.
I will stop here and these are the vampire anime I have watched. Maybe you guys know more anime related to vampire. I would like to watch your recommendations and I’m glad to discuss these vampire anime with you.
